{August 20, 2009}   MY CONCEPT OF GOD

She carried me for the ten months
She worries about me for lifetime
She taught me who is who,
She loves me truly
so, my mother is my god.

He strives for my growth,
He strives for my health,
He works hard for my wealth,
He showers me with flowers of love,
So, my father is my god.

They work hard for me,
They teach me with love,
They’ve made me a good human being,
They work hard for my future,
So, my teacher are my gods.

He gives me what I want,
He gives me a company when I alone,
He gives me encouragement when I am on stage,
He gives me full support when I need it,
So, my friend is my god.

{August 14, 2009}   RAIN

She hides behind the clouds;
Just like poetry…
Meanings hiding behind the
Words…
The purity of love, the purity of
Survival is hidden behind the cotton puff…
The dark passing clouds…
Passes by our head…
We see the cotton puffs with a
Puppy smile…
There…She smiles…
With
Drop of tears…
She cries with a smile…

The slow falling crystal drops
The lovable work stops…
Drops falling on your body…
The PAIN vanishing…
Vanished…
Blossom smiling…
We,
Enjoy the beauty of love…
Swinging in the direction of the Nature Prince;
The cool breeze, the wind.

Leaves with drops of purity.
Conversing with each other
The purity of love…
Oh! the mother of purity…
You make us happy with
Your tears…
Please don’t fade away.
Be with us.
Don’t anticipate…
And bliss in ignorance…

{August 11, 2009}   RESOURCES

Our need are termed as resources.
Even we are resources.
Yes, We are HUMAN RESOURCES
There are many resources which are the basic needs of our life.

There is a danger nearing us. Yet we have not felt it or understood it. The resources are becoming more and more lesser. If this situation goes on unchecked then we have to suffer without resources.

There is an important fact for everybody,
“The oxygen is getting 10gms lesser everyday”

In olden days there were many trees and so the amount of oxygen taken in was balanced with the amount of oxygen given by trees. But now due to the cutting of tree the condition is changing, now leading to the loss of oxygen. Minerals lije coal, gold, diamond, petroleum, etc.., are also getting depleted.

There is an urgent need to regain the resources. We have to save them and also take appropriate steps to increase them. So if we regain the resources, then we will be reganing our happy lives too.

A tip to regain the oxygen,
“Plant at least one tree in every house.”
“Evergreen World – Ever happy life”

{August 5, 2009}   Education

I was lucky to be born in India. Even with about 250 million people living below poverty line, India is one of the few countries in the world that offer practically free education to its vast population. Education provides hope and power to many.

The boy started his journey from a school with thatched roofs an isolated journey. This is the story of many who started from humble beginnings, and believed in second chances. An African man, Barack Obama, born to a Kenyan father, and raised by a single parent in the poor neighbourhoods of Hawaii is going to represent the democratic party in the US presidential election. About 43 years back, people of his colour were not allowed to vote, or even sit in the bus seats which were reserved for whites. Gandhji was kicked around in the street of South Africa for walking in the areas which were designated for whites only. Now a man, with his sheer persistence, tenacity and intelligence, is challenging the conventional wisdom of colour based identities of human beings which has been true for centuries, and still holds true in many parts of the world.

In our journey through life, we walk around with bags filled with memories of the past, and dreams and hopes for the future. We select the colours of our dreams and memories. We live with our own insecurities and the constant urge to prove to someone. It could be our parents, loved ones or ourselves.

So, good luck with your examinations or interviews, or whatever dreams youe are pursuing. Life is a journey; Don’t forget the paths you passed, those paths define you. Keep your chin up. Put on a smile and head on.

Cheers!!

DAYS OF GLORY

This  one is for the war buffs. Days of glory is about the discrimination that north africans faced while fighting for the French army during World War II. The issue of racism unfolds through the experiences of four men-said (Debbouze), Messaoud (Zem), Abdelkader (Bouajila) and Yassir (Naceri). They fight under the leadership of Sergeant Martinez (Blancan), who is, ironically, half French, half Arabic. He finds himself torn French military decorum and devotion for his troops. The algerian soldiers’ experiance at war culminates in the bittersweet end when they find themselves defending a small village against the Nazis all on their own.

since its release in 2006, the film has won several awards. It has seen as Indian release only now. Rachid Bouchareb’s direction in superb, as is the performance of the main leads. The film does become a tad too much for a viewer who is not prepared for a hard-hitting war drama. But it lies heavy on one’s mind, it is only a sign of the expertise of the director and the cast, who have managed to resurrect the lives of the soldiers effectively on screen. Keep in mind that on seeing the film, the French president Jacques Chirac restored veteran pensions to the north Africans who fought alongside the French in World War II.

{July 28, 2009}   GRAPES

Red grapes are not only the world’s greatest source of red wine, but also a great source of antioxidants. They contain resveratrol, an antioxidant that helps get rid of free radicals, reduces platelet aggregation and keeps blood vessels open and unobstructed. A recent study conducted at the university of Michigan Cardiovascular Center found that a grapenriched diet could help prevent heart damage even after years of blood pressure.

Another study at the Rambam Medical Centre in Israel confirms that grapes contain an abundance of powerful antioxidants that inhibit an array of critical factors that cause atherosclerosis or ‘hardenings of the arteries’.

Atherosclerosis occurs due to cholesterol buid-up on the arterial walls and leads to blockage of blood vessels that supply
blood to the heart and brain, causing heart attack. Blood cholesterol is carried by both LDL (low density lipoprotien) and
HDL (high density lipoprotien). While LDL is called the ‘bad cholesterol’ it is usually benign until it is damaged by free
radicals.

Grapes also contain a bioflavonoid called quercetin that works with vitamin C to stimulate the immune system to fight infection, cancer and inflammation.

{July 21, 2009}   ALCOHOL

Alohol is a fermented organic compounds, obtained by distillation of malts and sugars. The alcohol used for drinking is ethyl alcohol. Other common alcohol include methyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol. Methyl alcohol is deadly poisonous and causes blindness and even death. Alcohol, when take in small quantities causes intoxication. The heart beats more slowly and the muscles of the blood vessels relax, causing the skin to flush. IF the drink is continued for long period, the speech become indistinct, there is loss of balance and finally reaches the stage where one cannot see clearly and falls asleep. Excessive drinking causes unconsciousness and finally death. The effect of alcohol present in the blood.

Alcoholism generally leads to addiction, because of its effects as a depressant. The person who drinks in an uncontrolled manner is called an alcoholic. He becomes a salve to alcohol. The following saying clearly establishes the consequences of alcohol addition:

“FIRST THE MAN TAKES THE DRINK, THEN
THE DRINK TAKES THE THE DRINK, AND THEN
THE DRINK TAKES THE MAN”.

ADDITION TO THE ALCOHOL IS A STEPWISE PROCESS. Its starts from occasional to moderate and then to heavy drinking. The individual thus becomes completely dependent on alcohol.

{July 16, 2009}   DRUG ABUSE

There are substances other than common drugs which have potential for abuse.  They range from kitchen spices through common flowers and weeds to highly sophistical drugs.  drugs are inert substances neither good nor bad in themselves, it is the nature of human involvement (how and under what circumstances they are used)  which makes them either beneficial or harmful. Drug abuse is defined as self-administration of drugs in excessive or inappropriate doses. The drugs with  abuse potential may be classified into four categories according to their functions viz. (a) Narcotics, (b) Depressants, (c) Stimulants and (d) Hallucinogens. alcohol and tobacco are two other substances most commonly abused throughout the world.

Narcotics, depressants (mild sedatives, barbiturates and tranquillizer) and stimulants are essential to the practice of modern medicine, but hallucinogens are used only in medical research.  When administered without medical supervision they are said to be abused. All substances with abuse potential can produce changes in behaviour, particularly used. The abuser may deal intoxicated,  relaxed, withdrawn and solitary, sociable and talkative, quick to agree or believe. These changes may be harmless or may constitute a danger to both the abuser and society.

{July 14, 2009}   SUCCESS

All of us are engaged in an unconscious endeavour to distract attention from the respect in which we are inferior to others and to emphasise the respect in which we believe ourselves to be superior.  Each of us must feel superior in some respect; and we try unconsciously, to convince the world that this is really the one thing that matters. If we are physically inferior but intellectually superior, then we tend to disparage physical prowess and emphasise the importance of  mental ability. If we are bad workmen or bad farmers, then we may try to shine as parlour politicians.  If we uneducated but (self-made), wealthy, well, then what is the use of education. It only spoils a man’s mind. On the contrary, we educated, but unsuccessful in the business of life, then we never lose an opportunity of belittling business success. Generally, if we are successful at anything, we believe that success is won by industry, ability and character, while if we have been unsuccessful, we believe that success is a matter of luck! Isn’t that so?

{July 11, 2009}   The Charms of Poetry

Poetry like life, defines a definition. Like the wind it is eluding. We can feel the wind all the time, but cannot see it. so is poetry; we enjoy it, but not define it. We can, at best, define its features. Wordsworth may say, that it is an experience recollected in tranquility, but before that, there invoke love or hatred, joy or sorrow, hope or despair-an emotional outburst. There is something ethereal about it and a halo about its maker. It is the language of the soul that suddenly breaks into a passionate song of beauty and splendour. Whoever it is – Dante or Homer, Milton or Shakespheare the burden is the same-soul communicating with soul. Sweets may cloy, pleasures may become stale, but the charm of poetry forever remains fresh and fragrant.

Food is to taste, beauty to sight, music to hear and fragrance to sniff and breeze to feel. But poetry is too all these not only to feast the five senses but to sober them. Poetry is as old as humanity itself. All ancient works of religion and philosophy are poetical in essence if not couched in poetry.
