{August 18, 2009}   FRIENDSHIP

Between you and me,
there is a relationship,
and that is know as FRIENDSHIP
It is a soft as the cheek of a year old kid
It is as beautiful as the morning dew on a tip of a grass in the garden
It is as fresh as the morning bath from a waterfall
It is a sweet as a Rasogulla of the place in which I lived,
It is as comfortable as the hug of a mother of the young one
It is as powerful as the hit of a six from the bat of Sachin Tendulkar
It is as exhilerating as the music of a great musician
It is as enchanting as that of getting drenched in the rain with cool breeze lashing around
Is it as precious as gold? No!
As precious as gold? No!
I am yet to find something which is
Comparable to friendship
Hence it is a feeling that could be felt and enjoyed by two souls only by
Exchange of true friendship
With care and concern.

{August 14, 2009}   RAIN

She hides behind the clouds;
Just like poetry…
Meanings hiding behind the
Words…
The purity of love, the purity of
Survival is hidden behind the cotton puff…
The dark passing clouds…
Passes by our head…
We see the cotton puffs with a
Puppy smile…
There…She smiles…
With
Drop of tears…
She cries with a smile…

The slow falling crystal drops
The lovable work stops…
Drops falling on your body…
The PAIN vanishing…
Vanished…
Blossom smiling…
We,
Enjoy the beauty of love…
Swinging in the direction of the Nature Prince;
The cool breeze, the wind.

Leaves with drops of purity.
Conversing with each other
The purity of love…
Oh! the mother of purity…
You make us happy with
Your tears…
Please don’t fade away.
Be with us.
Don’t anticipate…
And bliss in ignorance…

{August 12, 2009}   SECRET OF CONCENTRATION

They are indeed wise, who know that the secret of success is concentration. Concentration is essential for every person whatever his vocation may be. “What is the needs to keep the mind under control?” The answer is just this: If one’s mind is under one’s own control, great goals can be achieved through it, while if it is not, it becomes well nigh impossible to do even the most ordinary thing.

As Swami Vivekanada says – a concentrated mind is really a search-light. A search light makes it possible for us to see even the objects lying in distant dark corners. Here we shall discuss how students must concentrate their minds upon studies.

a: Every student must have the facility to spread books and study comfortably.
b: It is important to sit in a dignified and steady posture while studying.
c: When a topic has been chosen to study, the mind should be kept immersed in it for at least one full hour.
d: There is a problem of noise pollution. Since noise pollution is rampant in all towns and cities, there is no alternative except to bear with it. Anyhow there is a way of escaping noise pollution. The student must cultivate an intense desire to excel in studies. If there is this yearing in the mind, external noise will hardly be heard. It is good to remember that to develop concentration overnight is impossible for anyone.
e:In every student lies hidden a wonderful capacity acquiring tremendous knowledge. Only a student must not doubt his own inner strength. Hence we must keep telling ourselves.

{August 5, 2009}   Education

I was lucky to be born in India. Even with about 250 million people living below poverty line, India is one of the few countries in the world that offer practically free education to its vast population. Education provides hope and power to many.

The boy started his journey from a school with thatched roofs an isolated journey. This is the story of many who started from humble beginnings, and believed in second chances. An African man, Barack Obama, born to a Kenyan father, and raised by a single parent in the poor neighbourhoods of Hawaii is going to represent the democratic party in the US presidential election. About 43 years back, people of his colour were not allowed to vote, or even sit in the bus seats which were reserved for whites. Gandhji was kicked around in the street of South Africa for walking in the areas which were designated for whites only. Now a man, with his sheer persistence, tenacity and intelligence, is challenging the conventional wisdom of colour based identities of human beings which has been true for centuries, and still holds true in many parts of the world.

In our journey through life, we walk around with bags filled with memories of the past, and dreams and hopes for the future. We select the colours of our dreams and memories. We live with our own insecurities and the constant urge to prove to someone. It could be our parents, loved ones or ourselves.

So, good luck with your examinations or interviews, or whatever dreams youe are pursuing. Life is a journey; Don’t forget the paths you passed, those paths define you. Keep your chin up. Put on a smile and head on.

Cheers!!

{July 17, 2009}   SPORTS

Tracks and field events are safe for boys with the possible exception of the shot-put,  the discuss and javelin throw, the pole vaulting and perhaps hurdles. it must be remembered that muscles and tendons are readily pulled when cooled. A thorough warming up before attempting any track event is an essential safety measure. Follow rules of the game. Beware of slippery surfaces and other obstacles. Wear a jacket or sweater when you rest between the periods of actual performance to avoid chilling. Procure and wear the correct and safe kit. Broken, and the apparatus which is not firmly fixed should not be used. Fasten securely laces to avoid tripping. Remove rings and watches before starting a game to avoid cuts and scratches. Avoid stunts. Treat other as you would like to be treated. Take adequate rest before participating in track events and sports. Follow suitable diet regimen and avoid alcohol and smoking.

{July 14, 2009}   SUCCESS

All of us are engaged in an unconscious endeavour to distract attention from the respect in which we are inferior to others and to emphasise the respect in which we believe ourselves to be superior.  Each of us must feel superior in some respect; and we try unconsciously, to convince the world that this is really the one thing that matters. If we are physically inferior but intellectually superior, then we tend to disparage physical prowess and emphasise the importance of  mental ability. If we are bad workmen or bad farmers, then we may try to shine as parlour politicians.  If we uneducated but (self-made), wealthy, well, then what is the use of education. It only spoils a man’s mind. On the contrary, we educated, but unsuccessful in the business of life, then we never lose an opportunity of belittling business success. Generally, if we are successful at anything, we believe that success is won by industry, ability and character, while if we have been unsuccessful, we believe that success is a matter of luck! Isn’t that so?

{July 11, 2009}   The Charms of Poetry

Poetry like life, defines a definition. Like the wind it is eluding. We can feel the wind all the time, but cannot see it. so is poetry; we enjoy it, but not define it. We can, at best, define its features. Wordsworth may say, that it is an experience recollected in tranquility, but before that, there invoke love or hatred, joy or sorrow, hope or despair-an emotional outburst. There is something ethereal about it and a halo about its maker. It is the language of the soul that suddenly breaks into a passionate song of beauty and splendour. Whoever it is – Dante or Homer, Milton or Shakespheare the burden is the same-soul communicating with soul. Sweets may cloy, pleasures may become stale, but the charm of poetry forever remains fresh and fragrant.

Food is to taste, beauty to sight, music to hear and fragrance to sniff and breeze to feel. But poetry is too all these not only to feast the five senses but to sober them. Poetry is as old as humanity itself. All ancient works of religion and philosophy are poetical in essence if not couched in poetry.

{July 10, 2009}   Life

A jobless man applied for the position of “office boy” at Microsoft.

The HR manager interviewed him, then watching him cleaning the floor as a test.

“Your are employed,” he said. “Give me your e-mail address and I’ll send you the application to fill in, as well the date when you start.”

The man replied, “But I don’t have a computer, neither an email.”

“I’m sorry”, said the HR manager. “If you don’t have an email, that means you do not exist And whoever doesn’t exist, cannot have the job.”

The man left with no hope at all. He didn’t know what to do, with only $10 in his pocket. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10kg tomato.

He then sold the tomato in a door to door round. In less than two hours, he succeeded in doubling his capital. He repeated the operation three times, and returned home with $60.

The man realized that he can survive this way, and started to go everyday earlier, and return late. Thus, his money doubled or tripled everyday.

Shortly, he bought a cart, then a truck, and then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles.

Five years later, the man is one of the biggest food retailers in the US.

He started to plan his family’s future, and decided to have a life insurance. He called an insurance broker, and chose a protection plan. When the conversation concluded
the broker asked him his email.

The man replied, “I don’t have an email”.

The broker answered curiously, “you don’t have an email, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. can you imagine what you could have been if you had an email?!!.” The man thought for an while and replied, “yes, I’d be an office boy at Microsoft!”

{June 17, 2009}   TALENTS

The phrase ‘excellent in communication skills’ might no longer add value to your resume in these times of recession.

According to a study conducted in 100 colleges, it was found that students did not meet the ‘employment-ready’ criteria, through 80 percent of the respondents possessed good communication skills.

It certainly symbolises the times we live in, with campus placement volumes coming down and companies looking to reduce the costs of training.

“Just knowing the basic codes and computer languages won’t help these days”. “The student needs to exhibit a corporate mindset and job readiness”.

For students waiting to get into jobs, it’s about that ‘extra factor’ that they can provide to the organisation and that comes from polishing transferable skills.

‘A Bcom student should be made to study job-oriented curriculum, say for instance, marketing of insurance products or mutual funds, which will help him to find a job easily”.
